santa rosa today. cool along the coast. mid-60s in the valleys, livermore, fairfield. temperatures tomorrow going up. warmer day tomorrow. you can see everything over the top. i like this shot. see that? you see that. see it pushed away? the winds were light off shore today. they will become more powerful the next couple days. enough that we won't see coastal fog, at least by tomorrow afternoon. we couldn't. it returns tonight along the coast. in pacifica. fog is there. i think by noon time i think it pushed away to the south and off shore. forecast highs tomorrow will be warmer. current temperatures, still warm. 63 in fairfield. right now antioch 65 degrees and it is february. the numbers are impressive considering the time of day and time of year. temperatures tomorrow will eclipse these numbers, 70s tomorrow. the high pressure spins around the upper atmosphere, presses down, pushes the molecules of air together and they rub and heat up. like when you rub your hands together. that is what the atmosphere does. puts a lid on the stuff in the atmosphere, they rub together and they h

temperatures, as i mentioned, they are cooling off. right now, we have 50s out towards santa rosa. 56 san jose. and there's that 53 showing up in downtown san francisco. also, the winds still a bit breezy out there. sustained wind speeds, 14 miles an hour towards santa rosa, half moon bay at 21 miles an hour. and fairfield, north wind at 15, gusting to around 23 miles an hour. tonight, clear and windy. the winds will gradually back ovulate tonight into early tomorrow morning. a cold start for your sunday, but more sunshine into the afternoon hours. and the extended, we're back to a dry weather pattern. we had a few sprinkles very early this morning, but really not a big deal and clouds cleared out rapidly. lower 30s toward santa rosa and napa for low tonight. san jose, upper 30s, at 39. this weather system moving to the east of the bay area produced the clouds, even a few sprinkles early this morning. so today, coolest day of the weekend, as the system moves out to the east, high pressure rebuilding. storm track heads up to our north and we have another dry weather streak to talk about to

this map. 69 in mountain view. in santa rosa you have the 68. just south of town a little bit you'll find a 70-degree reading. hearsay how it goes. the haze in the atmosphere at sunset. we have some air quality concerns tomorrow as we get into that. what we're seeing a lot of are the high clouds coming over the top. high clouds coming in, it bends the light, refracts the light. and turns it into different colors. these high clouds are doing the beeping of the light. tonight's sunset is going to be stunning. we'll try to post one on our ktvu.com web page. is it going to bring rain? no. is it going to bring clouds? yes. is it going to cool us off? yes. it will drop a few degrees tomorrow. but then sunday the clouds shunt away and we begin to warm up a little more. temperatures, mid60s, low 60s. still really nice and above average for february. 65 right now in santa rosa. that is warm. 63 in napa. 60 in walnut creek. it's warm outside. you travel about t will cool off rapidly tonight. going out tonight, whatever you're doing, take a jacket. may not need it right now, but you will by the

a look another the temperatures. the official high, santa rosa, 68 today. san jose, 62. and downtown san francisco, 60 degrees. latest right now in the satellite, the storm track heading way up to our north, so we have clear skies right now. they will remain in place as we head into the overnight hours and early monday morning. a bit of a breeze. here is a look at some of the current wind reports. you can see they are sustained out toward the west at 18 miles an hour. also, a westerly wind at oakland, 12 miles an hour. a northerly breathe toward fairfield, travis air force base, at six miles an hour. tomorrow, you definitely want to bundle up. tomorrow morning, we'll be cooler than this morning. low 30's out toward santa rosa and napa. we could have patchy fog in parts of the north bay. san jose starting out the day at 3 9 degrees. a nice recovery, back up into the upper 50's to the low to mid 60's. coming up, we'll take a look at the highs in your neighborhood and also highlight the one day we could be tracking 70-degree temperatures on our five-day forecast. >>> from iran and the m

to see an inch to half inch especially when we're at it 2% of average santa rosa. it's really just illustrates how wet december was because january third dry effort in san francisco history. those records go way back. february pretty dry thus far. we're still at it 2% of average. cold tonight you knew that because the air is clear. the clouds, the sky is clear. the air is still, the winds are down and we're going to see temperatures drop below freeze in the fort bay valley. you're going to find temperatures that are going to be below freezing by about or 4 degrees. that means frost is certainly a potential not just in inland bay valleys. frost and hayward ports of fremont as well. so frost tomorrow morning a cold start to your day. temperatures tomorrow come close to where they were today. we will lots of upper 50s today. santa cruz was in the low 60s. tomorrow morning when you wake up it's purple. those are 30s. there will be 20s too but that's a broad brush. daytime highs greens are 60s, some 60s are starting to show up. and the blues will be's. slightly warmer for your tomorrow.

outside. a 75, 75 in oakland. that's huge. 72 in santa rosa. these are the highs from today. 68 in livermore and 72 in san jose. really nice. record heat yesterday. record warmth yesterday. today another warm day with temperatures well above the average. things are changing around though. here's the deal. the weekend is coming. things are going to change towards the end of the weekend. we'll get to that. this area out here, this system is going to be enough to break down this really nice strong ridge of high pressure that's kept us dry. it's dropped our rainfall average into the 80%-- 69 right now in san francisco. that's pretty warm. a beautiful mild evening tonight. temperatures will drop down tonight. they'll get into the mid30s. might see a little frost. the concern here is rain. we have rain in the forecast. it shows up in the five day. percents of average. it is amazing we have not had anything in terms of rain really for january or february. in santa rosa based on rainfall still at 96% of average. that's how much rain we got in december. that is amazing. san jose down to 83%

right now in santa rosa. that's fairly warm. 61 in antioch and 56 in hayward. so forecast highs tomorrow, warmer than what we had today. overnight lows will be chilly. there's been some wind out there. a little breezy. these are the current wind observations. we have a north wind at 18. west wind out here at 15. so the winds kind of brisk out here. kind of chilly. even though you're hitting upper 50s, upper 60s the wind really creates a windchill for you. there's your freezing in napa. what's interesting here, i got a 35 in santa rosa but if you go out to the rincon valley, east of town. if you go west of town out toward sebasta pool. you will find freezing temperatures. we have frost too. we'll see it again tomorrow morning. that's it for rain. we're not going to see any rain coming up here. really until we get into late friday night. early saturday morning. we'll talk more about that. but first we start with the overnight lows. purples are 30. that's just a broad brush. it's not exact but it's nice that they're mapping it. it shows you how chilly the entire bay area is going t

, santa rosa and concord are all on a list that may have their control towers shut down. if a deal on the federal budget isn't reached by the end of next week. a company that provides fuel, parking and other services to planes here say without a control tower, air traffic would plummet and business would nose dive. many of the corporate jets will not come to an airport without a control tower. he says those corporate jets make up about 80% of his business. >> it's really dangerous to operate without the tower. a lot of our business jet carriers will not surf the airport if they are shut down. i may be faced with having to lay employees off. >> reporter: over the phone he explained that most planes would still be able to take off and land here. especially the smaller planes without a control tower. their pilots would have to rely solely on their radios to communicate with each other. allie rasmus. >>> flights to mayor cities including san francisco could experience delays of up to 90 minutes at peak hours. the full impact wouldn't be felt until april when cuts of air traffic controllers go

holiday weekend around 7degrees for san francisco. san jose and santa rosa. oakland you hit 75 today. you're currently at 72. the cool spot it's chilly in livermore at 65 degrees. you hit the upper 60s. radar is clear. that's going to change, as well. kpix 5 high-def doppler radar will be showing some activity moving in monday evening. we have a holiday weekend coming up and it won't be that chilly overnight. 43 concord, 49 san francisco and napa 41. high pressure is in the perfect spot to at offshore wind for one more day. notice there is some moisture trying to head in our direction moving from west to east. look what's happening. it's hitting the wall and being shoved way up into canada. that's because of that protective dome of high pressure literally blocking moisture, fronts, storms, rainfall from making it to the bay area. but the process of cooling us down begins on sunday. tomorrow another day right around 70 degrees. very mild outside. then high pressure begins to slide down to the south and that same dome of high pressure will give us an onshore flow. mid-60s on sunday. up

. a heads up healdsburg, santa rosa, eventually the napa valley showers moving northeast. look at the rain up to the north. that has to move through the bay area before we can sound the "all clear" and get back to sunshine. as for what's going to be happening next, there are more showers on the way because there is an upper area level of low pressure system off the oregon coastline heading toward us so showers increase tonight. this is good news for skiers because this will translate to snow in the mountains. only 3 to 5" of snow, but the snow level dropping to 3,000 feet and finally some fresh powder in the sierra tonight and tomorrow. roberta gonzales is reporting live today with the mobile weather lab talking about how much rain fell today and this big deficit. >> wondering about the bay area and how we stacked up as far as rainfall totals are concerned, here in the embarcadero we saw .1" of rain. pretty anemic. here's the other totals around the microclimate. st. helena with nearly .4." sausalito in the north .14." how do we stack up as far as precipitation of normal stats? san fr

. santa rosa 62. 64 right now for oakland. concord you're at 61. san francisco you are at 60 with a sea breeze. and you're down to 54. speaking of down, temperatures dropping down once again tonight. couple of degrees milder than last night but still close to freezing. livermore will hit 34. fremont 35. san rafael 36. concord tonight 36 degrees. as you guessed, kpix 5 hi-def doppler radar is dry once again. it's really interesting to see the deficit through two different lenses. since the top of the year, big deficit for rainfall. we are down 5.5" but the deficit when you go back to july 1 our water year only an inch because we got so much rain around thanksgiving. we are not doing that bad for the entire year. past couple of months we're in significant deficit. big ridge of high pressure, how big? storm track up towards seattle vancouver british columbia nowhere close to us. nor is that going to be changing anytime soon. the high is off to the west as we'll still get cool northerly flow. temperatures in the low 60s. i know, such problems we have around here. as high pressure gets close

the sunshine. concord oakland livermore all 66. santa rosa 67. you hit 70 today now right on the coastline and in the city of san francisco, we were much cooler today only 57 currently in downtown san francisco. as for what's going on around the region for tonight, it will be chilly but not as cold as the past couple nights. fremont, livermore, concord, san jose all in the low 40s. we are dry again. 58 days into the year, it has only rained five times. count them on one hand. here's the deal. we have rain in far northern california. but this high pressure dome is just strong enough to keep this moisture up to the north may get some cloud cover moving in overnight tonight but we'll be rain-free once again. as for what's going on moving forward, we'll have an offshore wind for everybody coming up on friday so forget the 50s in san francisco. you likely will hit 70 with everybody else. warmest day will be friday. then we begin to see a change especially by sunday. the onshore flow is back as a low pressure area off to the north and west move in and by next tuesday the pattern will b

roof top, don't see much cloud cover. check out the temperatures. they have dropped. san rosa currently 52. san jose 54. downtown san francisco only 51. inland, kind of like summertime. 61degrees in livermore right now. as you can guess, the radar is dry. man, has it been a big change. november and december combined in san rosa you had 20 inches of rain. january and the first week of february you have had less than one inch of rain. i don't see much changing over the next several days. another chilly night tonight. concord, livermore. redwood city for 9 degrees. with this on shore flow we will see the temperatures stay below normal. you can see a big low pressure area over my shoulder. this will shove a front in the bay area eventually. the on shore will keep most of us in the 50s tuesday and wednesday. dry part goes away on thursday as a weak front moves through. we will see some scattered showers. low to mid 50s for highs on thursday and friday. temperatures stay low because that on shore flow and fog. some showers return with that front on thursday. friday will be chilly. c

you in napa, santa rosa, petaluma. concord, walnut creek, livermore and low 40s elsewhere. oakland 44, san jose 43. showing you a different perspective, this is the water content in the air. we call it water vapor. where you see the dark is where the atmosphere is really dry. notice there's a big circle over california. a very dark color on your television screen which tells me that's the center of the dome of high pressure and that's why you can't get clouds with no moisture in the area. that's what's going on. high pressure didn't move much over the past 24 hours. you had a similar day today compared to yesterday. tomorrow, not moving. saturday, sunday, not moving. the high doesn't move all the way through the weekend. you stay sunny chilly nights mild afternoons. several more mainly dry days. mother nature is playing chicken with us. kind of pushing back every day this rain chance. now it looks like low pressure will not get here until next thursday. so at least six more mainly dry days. clear nights, sunny afternoons, mild weather all the way through monday. mid-60s showers coming
